Cynthia Dennis, an award-winning journalist, grew up in Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism. She also earned a M.A. in Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she taught journalism. Prior to nearly two decades as a feature writer and columnist at the Milwaukee Journal, she was a copywriter for radio and television. She has also written for other newspapers, magazines, and travel publications.

She is the author of The Sunflower Sinner: An Odyssey of Politics and Passion, which was published by Woodley Memorial Press. The memoir chronicles the gubernatorial ambitions and ultimate downfall of her politician father, whose corruption scandal fractured his family. DETOURS, her latest book, is a collection of twelve short stories. Their characters’ lives are derailed by uncontrolled obsessions and murky secrets, leading to chaotic personal detours. She resides in Florida, is an alumnus of the Bennington Writing Workshops, and a member of Sarasota Fiction Writers.
